Murder of Meredith Kercher

The murder of Meredith Kerch was held in Perugia, Italy, November 1, 2007. Kerch, 21 years old at the time of his death was a British university exchange student from Coulsdon, south London. She shared an apartment upstairs with three other young women. She was sexually assaulted and stabbed, and property belonging to her were stolen.

Rudy Guede, who lives in Perugia, was sentenced to 28 October 2008 rape and murder of Kercher. His conviction for speedier, and he is serving a reduced sentence of 16 years. Raffaele Sollecito, an Italian student, and Amanda Knox, USA  is a student and roommate Kercher, was found guilty of rape and murder in a separate trial Dec. 4, 2009. They received sentences of 25 and 26 years. Knox and Sollecito have been complaining. Their appeal was launched in December 2010 and is scheduled to end at the end of 2011.

The tests were the subject of news reports from around the world, including Italy, Britain and the United States.  The coverage has been criticized for its tabloid in nature rather than present evidence accurately and without passion .

Reactions to the action is polarized between the idea that Knox and Sollecito are the innocent victims of a miscarriage of justice , and the perception that they were directly involved in the murder and sentenced Kerch fairly.  The conviction of Rudy Guedes was controversial similar.
